Grand Theft Auto VI releases on Thursday, November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That date has been confirmed by Rockstar Games and reaffirmed by Take-Two Interactive in its investor communications, and it has survived a summer of speculation intact.
It is the third date the game has carried. The original reveal trailer in December 2023 promised 2025. A May 2025 announcement moved the game to May 26, 2026. A second slip in November 2025 pushed it to November 19, 2026, where it has stayed. Understanding that history matters, because it is the reason a section of the audience still treats every date as provisional.
This hub is the spine of our release coverage. It carries the timeline, the platform picture, the pre-order calendar and the marketing beats. The spoke articles below go deeper on each: the delay history in detail, the countdown, the launch-day logistics, and the long, unannounced wait for a PC version.

Why a Thursday, and why November
November 19 is a Thursday. That breaks Rockstar's own habit: GTA V landed on a Tuesday, Red Dead Redemption 2 on a Friday.
The retail logic
A Thursday hands retail a full weekend of launch momentum.
It also drops the game into the middle of the holiday buying window without hitting Black Friday, which falls on November 27 in 2026.
The accounting logic
Take-Two's fiscal year ends March 31. A November launch banks the whole holiday season inside fiscal 2027 instead of splitting it across two years.
That is the commercial reason. The practical effect for you is a launch with eight full weeks of retail season behind it. Our launch day guide covers what happens on the day itself.
What has actually been announced
One date, two platforms, one price tier structure. That is the whole confirmed set.
Everything else you read about launch, from review timing to a PC port, is unannounced. Our delay history shows how the date moved to get here.
How reliable is this date?
More reliable than the last two dates, and for a solid reason. Pre-orders are open and money has changed hands.
A publisher can move a date it has only announced. Moving a date it has already sold against is costly. It triggers refunds and it damages retail ties. Take-Two also repeated the November 19 date in public after pre-orders opened, which is not something you do if you expect to break it. That is not a guarantee, but it is a real change in the risk, and it is why the mood shifted after June 2026.

Frequently asked questions
How big is the GTA 6 install size?
Not published. Rockstar has not announced a download or installed size, and storefront placeholders change during certification. Our preload planner works in ranges instead.
What is the GTA 6 release date?
Grand Theft Auto VI releases on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Has GTA 6 been delayed?
Twice. The original 2025 window moved to May 26, 2026 in May 2025, and then to November 19, 2026 in November 2025. The current date has held since then and was reaffirmed after pre-orders opened.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Not at launch, and Rockstar has not announced a PC version or a date. Historically GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 reached PC roughly one to two years after their console releases, but that pattern is precedent, not a commitment.
Will GTA 6 be delayed again?
Nothing indicates it will. Pre-orders are live, the date has been publicly reaffirmed, and marketing has begun. We will update this page the moment that changes - And only if it changes.
What time does GTA 6 unlock?
Rockstar has not published unlock times. Its previous launches have used a mix of midnight-local and staggered regional unlocks; treat any specific hour circulating now as unconfirmed.
