The short version
- Sony labels GTA VI PS5 Pro Enhanced, but has not published the enhancement profile.
- The Extended Look was captured on a standard PlayStation 5.
- Xbox Series S is an officially supported launch platform.
- No console has an announced resolution or frame-rate target.
Rockstar and the console storefronts now confirm the supported hardware and several PlayStation features. They still do not confirm a single resolution or frame-rate mode.
That distinction is the point of this page: PS5 Pro Enhanced is a real product label, Xbox Series S support is real, and 30 fps or 60 fps claims remain unannounced.
Console-by-console status
| Console | Confirmed | Not announced |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Launch platform; Extended Look captured in-game on PS5 | Resolution, FPS modes, ray tracing and VRR behavior |
| PlayStation 5 Pro | Officially labelled PS5 Pro Enhanced | Enhancement resolution, effects, upscaling and FPS targets |
| Xbox Series X | Optimized for Xbox Series X|S | Resolution, FPS modes, ray tracing and comparison with PS5 |
| Xbox Series S | Supported launch platform and optimized Series X|S listing | Series S-specific footage, resolution, FPS and graphics reductions |
What the capture platform tells us
Rockstar specified that the 26-minute Extended Look was captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5.
It is a statement about authenticity
The footage is not a bespoke cinematic render.
That is a real and useful claim.
It is not a statement about performance
It confirms the imagery came from a PS5.
It does not publish the capture frame rate, the output resolution, or the settings behind it.
What PS5 Pro Enhanced confirms
Sony's product page carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced label.
Also confirmed by Sony
All of these are on the product page.
- DualSense haptic feedback
- Adaptive-trigger resistance
- Controller-speaker effects
- Tempest 3D Audio
- Remote Play
- Near-instant resume
What the badge does not specify
Native resolution. PSSR use. Ray tracing. Texture settings. A 60 fps mode.
Those need an official technical note or measured release code.
Xbox Series S status
Rockstar and Xbox list GTA VI for Xbox Series X|S, and the Microsoft Store labels it optimised for both.
So Series S is confirmed
Not conditional. Not a rumour. Not an open question.
That settles the most common Series S search outright.
Performance targets nobody has given
No Series S footage. No targets.
Nothing about whether it uses the same mode structure as Series X, or which visual settings differ.
Storage is the one thing you can plan for
The 512 GB model reports roughly 364 GB usable, the tightest budget of any current-generation console.
Our preload and storage planner models it, and our Series S page goes deeper.
The 30 versus 60 question
No official source specifies 30 fps, 60 fps, dynamic resolution, VRR, or separate fidelity and performance modes on any console.
Context is not confirmation
Past Rockstar releases and hardware analysis can tell you what is likely.
They cannot tell you what this game does.
The useful advice
If performance decides your console, wait for Rockstar's mode chart or independent launch testing.
Anything before that is a guess you would be buying hardware on.
September 2026 update: the 30fps reports
Following the Extended Look, multiple outlets reported that Rockstar has said the game runs at 30 frames per second on PS5 and Xbox Series X, with a performance mode possible later but not promised. GamesRadar carried the figure in its showcase coverage.
We label this Reported rather than Confirmed because it has not appeared in Rockstar's own published materials, only in press accounts of Rockstar statements. If Rockstar publishes the figure directly, this page will move it to Confirmed the same day.
A 30fps target on the base consoles would be consistent with the simulation density the Extended Look demonstrated, and with Rockstar's history: both recent Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead titles launched at 30fps on their generation's hardware.
