The short version

  • Alligators and flamingos are plainly visible in official media.
  • The Grassrivers and Leonida Keys are major wildlife habitats.
  • Official screenshots show people hunting, and fishing is represented in world activity footage.
  • Pets, animal taming and a detailed hunting economy are not announced.

Leonida's animals are not a rumor assembled from leaks. Rockstar's trailers, cover art, screenshots and regional pages repeatedly show wildlife, with alligators and flamingos used as visual signatures of the state.

The useful distinction is between an animal being present and a system being confirmed around it. A bird in a trailer confirms that bird in the world. It does not confirm that the player can hunt it, sell it, photograph it for a challenge or keep it as a pet.

Where animals live

Three regions, three ecosystems.

Wildlife by region

Regional variation matters more than a raw species count.

RegionEnvironmentWhat that supports
GrassriversWetlandAlligators, water birds, swamp life
Leonida KeysShallow water and islandsFishing and marine activity
Mount KalagaForest and uplandsA different ecosystem again

Why variation beats a species list

Wildlife is what makes one biome read differently from another.

It can also affect travel even when no hunting mission is attached to it.

Hunting and fishing

Official material includes a woodland hunting scene, and presents fishing as part of Leonida's outdoor culture.

Confirmed at a visible level

That is enough to say both activities exist, and our hunting and fishing guide covers them.

Nothing has been documented about tracking, bait, skinning, carcass quality, species challenges or an RDR2-style crafting loop.

A gun in a screenshot proves less than it looks

It does not establish that every animal can be harvested.

Some wildlife may be ambient, protected, hazardous, or part of a scripted event.

Alligators as world behavior

Alligators turn up in natural settings and in absurd human ones, including the social-media moments that define Trailer 1.

What that supports

A world where animals intrude into roads and interiors, rather than staying distant scenery.

That is a design statement, and it is a reasonable one to make from the footage.

The danger model is unknown

Nothing has been explained about attacks, stealth, animal AI, vehicle collisions or police response.

Nor whether wildlife can be transported. Those claims should wait for the game or an official systems demo.
