The short version
- Cash, purchases and paid world services are part of GTA VI.
- Safehouses and multiple named retail or criminal businesses are confirmed.
- Rockstar has not said which properties can be bought.
- Passive income, stock trading and a business-management empire are not announced.
Money is present throughout GTA VI's official material: Jason works for local drug runners, he and Lucia pursue scores, and Rockstar's edition list is filled with stores, services, shops and an illegal-goods business. The world has an economy. The unanswered question is how much of it the player can own.
A named business in an edition is not automatically a GTA Online-style property. It could be an owned venue, an unlocked service, a mission contact or a bundled benefit. Rockstar has not published a property-purchase system.
Confirmed economic touchpoints
| Area | Official evidence | Not yet established |
|---|---|---|
| Safehouses | Jason's Safehouse Vehicles and story residences | Purchasing, upgrading or selling homes |
| Retail | Stock 305, Goodtime Gear and salon/tattoo services | Complete pricing and ownership rules |
| Vehicle services | Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie's | Whether either produces passive income |
| Illegal trade | PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store | A player-run supply business |
| Scores | The official premise begins with an easy score going wrong | Payout formulas or replay farming |
Properties are not the same as locations
The official character and region pages show homes, motels, businesses, clubs, ports and industrial sites.
A building you can enter is not a deed you can buy
Those locations build a believable economy. They do not imply ownership.
GTA V story mode let you buy some businesses, which is why people assume it here.
Safehouse is the one confirmed word
The edition language supports it.
How many safehouses exist, whether Jason and Lucia have separate homes, and whether interiors can be customised are all undisclosed.
The edition list needs careful reading
Rockstar lists six named venues as part of the Ultimate Edition collection.
The six named Ultimate Edition venues
Their existence is confirmed. Their exclusivity is not.
| Venue | What it serves |
|---|---|
| Rideout Customs | Vehicles |
| One-Eyed Willie's Mod Shop | Vehicles |
| Sara's Unisex Salon | Hair |
| Stock 305 Clothing Store | Clothing |
| Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor | Tattoos |
| PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store | Illegal goods |
What Standard Edition buyers should not assume
Do not assume the base game has no vehicle shops, salons, clothing or tattoo services.
These named venues could be premium versions of systems that exist for everyone. Until Rockstar publishes the full comparison, access and ownership stay open.
Economy questions still open
Nothing has been announced about how money actually works.
Unannounced economy systems
- Property prices
- Business revenue
- Recurring expenses
- Banking
- The stock market
- Loans
- Insurance
- Any cap on owned assets
Two questions that change everything
Whether cash is shared between protagonists, and whether a failed arrest takes money from you.
Neither has been stated.
Why the balance matters
A tight economy makes scores and services meaningful. An abundant one turns them into decoration.
The safest pre-launch guide records the named pieces and leaves the balance alone. Our wanted system guide covers the arrest side.
September 2026 update: no microtransactions in the campaign
Around the Extended Look, Rockstar stated that the single player campaign will not carry microtransactions. Press coverage of the showcase, including GamesRadar's roundup, carried the statement.
That settles one of this page's open questions for the campaign economy: whatever money you build in Leonida's story, you will build in the game, not at a store. It says nothing either way about the online mode's economy, which remains unannounced.
