The short version
- Rockstar has not announced GTA 6 for Nintendo Switch 2.
- The confirmed launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
- Nothing has been said either way about a later port.
- Rockstar has shipped mainline GTA on Nintendo hardware before, so it is not a matter of principle.
No. GTA 6 has not been announced for Nintendo Switch 2, and it is not in the launch line-up.
The confirmed platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nothing else has been stated.
Why it is not at launch
The constraint on this game is memory and streaming speed, not raw graphics power, as our platforms page explains.
A launch port is a parallel project
Shipping on a third architecture on day one means optimising the whole world budget twice.
Rockstar has never done a simultaneous Nintendo launch for a mainline GTA.
But it is not a matter of principle
Grand Theft Auto has appeared on Nintendo hardware repeatedly, including Chinatown Wars on DS and the trilogy remasters on Switch.
So a later port is not something the studio rules out on brand grounds.
And the PS4 argument does not transfer
PS4 and Xbox One are ruled out because they are 2013 machines built to a memory budget from that era. Switch 2 is not: it is a current-era design, so it is not disqualified by the same reasoning.
That does not make a port likely. It means the technical objection people reach for is the wrong one, and the real obstacles are commercial and scheduling.
What a Nintendo port has historically meant
Every previous Grand Theft Auto on Nintendo hardware arrived years after the original and was handled as a separate project, often by a different team.
That is the shape to expect if one is ever announced, and it is why a simultaneous launch was never realistic.
What would have to happen first
Three things, in this order.
The realistic sequence
- The PS5 and Xbox Series versions ship and stabilise
- Rockstar decides the world budget can be cut to fit without a visibly different game
- A port is announced, with its own date

It has not been announced for the platform. The technical constraint on GTA 6 is memory and streaming throughput rather than graphics power.
