The short version
- Official GTA VI multiplayer infrastructure: Not announced.
- Private sessions and a public server browser for GTA VI: Not announced.
- GTA VI support through Cfx.re, FiveM or a roleplay successor: Not announced.
- nopixel V is explicitly a GTA V roleplay project and is not evidence of GTA VI servers.
Rockstar has not announced servers for Grand Theft Auto VI. It has not announced an online mode either, so there is currently no official hosting model, private-session option, discovery browser or roleplay platform to document.
The word server causes confusion because players use it for four different products. This page defines each one, records its GTA VI status, and keeps current GTA V and Cfx.re developments in their proper context.
The four meanings of GTA 6 servers
Every GTA VI status below was checked against Rockstar and first-party storefront information on September 2, 2026.
| Meaning | What players are asking about | GTA VI status |
|---|---|---|
| Official multiplayer infrastructure | Rockstar-operated or dedicated backend services that would run an official GTA VI online mode | Not announced |
| Private or invite-only sessions | A restricted instance inside an official online mode for friends, crews or solo play | Not announced |
| Public server browser | A searchable directory of named public worlds or sessions that players can choose to join | Not announced |
| Community roleplay servers | Customized persistent worlds operated by communities through an authorized platform such as Cfx.re FXServer | Not announced |
1. Official multiplayer infrastructure
"Dedicated server" can mean the hardware behind an official multiplayer product.
It does not mean you get one
It does not mean players can rent hardware, run a server at home, or pick a named world from a list.
Rockstar has not announced a GTA VI multiplayer product at all.
What the PlayStation listing says
It describes the game as one player, with offline play enabled.
That is evidence about the launch product. It is not a promise that multiplayer never arrives, and our launch timing page covers the likely shape.
2. Private and invite-only sessions
A private session is an access setting inside an official online game.
What it is not
In GTA Online, "Invite Only Session" describes who can come in.
It does not give you a server of your own, or any ownership of the service behind it.
None of it is announced for GTA VI
Not private, not invite-only, not friends-only, not crew-only, not solo.
Features from GTA Online cannot be copied into a GTA VI list without a new announcement.
3. A public server browser
A server browser lists individual public worlds, usually with player count, rules, region or mods.
Three different things
A browser is not matchmaking, and matchmaking is not a private session.
People use all three words to mean the same thing, which is why this page exists.
None of them exist here
No GTA VI server browser. No world list. No rental programme. No hosting spec.
So we have no official servers to index, compare or recommend.
4. Community roleplay servers
A roleplay server is a custom community-run world where players make characters and follow the community's rules.
Rockstar owns the platform behind them
It acquired the Cfx.re team in August 2023. Cfx.re makes FiveM, RedM and the FXServer platform.
That is a formal relationship with today's roleplay scene, not a statement about GTA VI.
What Rockstar Support actually authorises
Two things: GTA Online for GTA V, and roleplay servers running through Cfx.re FXServer.
The support page warns that other online Grand Theft Auto services are not authorised.
What exists today
These are current GTA V and Cfx.re facts, not GTA VI features.
| Current product or policy | What Rockstar says | GTA VI implication |
|---|---|---|
| GTA Online | An authorized Grand Theft Auto V multiplayer service | None; it is a GTA V service |
| Cfx.re FXServer | Supports authorized roleplay or community-created servers | No GTA VI support announced |
| FiveM and RedM | Cfx.re services associated with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 communities | No successor or migration path announced |
| nopixel V | A GTAV Roleplay project with a closed beta beginning September 8, 2026 for invited players | None; Rockstar explicitly presents it as GTA V roleplay |
What Cfx.re confirms and what it does not
Owning Cfx.re confirms a relationship with the current roleplay ecosystem. It confirms nothing beyond that.
Not confirmed by the acquisition
All four are open questions.
- That FiveM will work with GTA VI
- That a GTA VI version is being built
- That current characters and scripts will migrate
- That server data will carry across
What would change this page
Rockstar or Cfx.re naming GTA VI directly.
Then identifying supported software, and stating the conditions a community server can run under.
Why nopixel V is not GTA VI evidence
Rockstar announced nopixel V on September 1, 2026, calling it the next evolution of the GTAV Roleplay community.
Read the announcement closely
Creators modify the GTAV map. The setting is Los Santos. Access is through the Rockstar Games Launcher.
Every detail in it points at GTA V.
So it classifies cleanly
nopixel V is a GTA V roleplay project.
Its name, its newer visuals, its launcher integration and Rockstar's backing announce no online mode, no server tools and no future compatibility.
Why there is no GTA VI server directory here
A directory needs real authorised entries, with an operator, a platform, access rules and availability you can check.
None of that exists yet
Publishing submissions now would turn Discord groups, paid reservations and unrelated GTA V communities into what looks like a verified list.
That is the opposite of useful.
What we will not accept
No GTA VI server listings. No whitelist sales. No reserved-name offers. No paid-access claims.
Not before Rockstar publishes an authorised route. Our marketplace rules say the same thing.
What will trigger an update
The article will be revised when a primary source publishes one of these items.
- Rockstar announces a GTA VI online or multiplayer product
- Rockstar defines private-session, matchmaking or server-browser options
- Rockstar or Cfx.re names GTA VI support and identifies the supported client or server software
- Rockstar publishes authorization, hosting or monetization rules for GTA VI community servers
- An official GTA VI roleplay project is announced by Rockstar or Cfx.re
Want to run your own server one day?
Our GTA 6 server hosting page tracks that question specifically: what the Cfx.re acquisition signals, what a sanctioned framework could look like, and why nobody can sell you a Leonida server yet.
